It’s been some time since our last update on 308 Pace. We hope our repeat clients are as happy with the final result as we are! That lofty vision for a full master suite in the old attic has come to life, and we are proud of the result. Where there were once louvered attic vents, there are now casement windows. Where there used to be exposed roof rafters, there are bright skylights and sleek ceiling fans. Where there was hard-to-reach storage, there is now a full master bath complete with a clerestory light in the tiled shower, plenty of storage space, and even a beautiful custom steel and repurposed wood sink cabinet. A limited cool palette, simple-yet-interesting tile selections, and clean storage solutions give this new retreat a peaceful feeling that the homeowners will be able to enjoy for years to come.
Another project that we have been really excited about during our busy year here at Pell Street Studio is nearing completion. This 1905 Oakwood bungalow is centered on a grand foyer which extends the full length of the home. Typical to this era, the home’s two original bedrooms are located to the left of the foyer, and the formal parlor and living rooms are seated to the right. Each of the four original rooms of this home has a coal burning fireplace, which we wanted to preserve and showcase. The work we completed in collaboration with M.A. Allen Interiors was primarily relegated to the later additions that were added to the rear of the historic structure. These additions included a kitchen, dinette area, a bathroom, laundry area, and a small bedroom. We reconfigured these spaces to include an expansion of the existing kitchen and to create an open dining room with access to the large back yard. Guests are now able to view the dining room and double French doors from the front of the entry hall. Finally, a master bathroom and master closet have been added that allows for the house to have a formal master suite.

Our homeowners have moved into their newly finished abode! Upstairs, the new master suite is complete with his-and-hers closets, a comfortable walk-in shower, and twin vanities. A beautiful and bright kitchen, new convenient laundry space, a full bathroom, and a fresh coat of paint in each room really pull together the gathering spaces downstairs. Shown here are images of the spaces just before the happy clients settled into the home for
This house in historic downtown Hillsborough will take your breath away when it is complete. It’s almost there! Cabinets, lighting, new flooring, wainscoting, appliances, plumbing fixtures are all in – just a few more details left to go (painting). This beautiful house is now a whole. From front to back, the house feels like it is all one house and a consistent aesthetic has been carried through. When we first met this house – it had a split personality. Stately and grand at the front while small and rustic in the back. With several months of therapy, this house is as grand as it was intended to be.
The Candlelight Tour this year brought over 2,000 guests through the house at 315 Pell St. Trees were lit and decorated, the smell of apple cider was in the air and a light sound of Holiday cheer emanated throughout the recently renovated house. If you missed the Tour this year mark your calendars now for Dec 13th + 14th, 2014. Photos of 315 Pell before the masses descended on it are below, taken from my iphone.
